Menu Item Control
First you must decide which menu the menu item appears on. The red headings in the menu bar on the left correspond to the names of the menu items. So, for exampe, if you wanted to turn off the "Creative Works" menu item, it appears on the "Classmates" menu. To control it you go to:
Joomla->Menus->Class Notes
A Menu Item Manager screen appears, which displays all of the items on the menu. To turn a feature off you simply click on the green check in the "Published" column. The check will turn to a white X in a red circle and the item will no longer appear on the menu.
If you change your mind you can reverse the process by clicking on the X to re-publish the item.
If you really want to get rid of the menu item entirely, you can select it using the checkboxes on the left, then click the "Trash" icon at the top of the page. Note, that if the menu item points to an article, this deletes only the menu item, not the article. To delete the article, you must go to:
Joomla->Content->Article Manager
In the Article manager, you can delete the article by selecting the corresponding checkbox and clicking the "Trash" icon.
